He died in 1953 in Elder Cottage Hospital, Govan.
His wife was Mary Kempton. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their seven known children were Mary Killan (Mamie (1916-1997), William Kempto (1920-?), Jeani (1923-?), Margare (1924-?), Jessie Burn (1925-?), Catherine Hunte (1929-?) and Georgin (1931-?).
