Duncan was born in 1840 in Kenmore, Perthshire, the son of John Haggart and Catherine Campbell.
He died on 19 FEB 1901 in Bridge of Allan.
His wife was Ann Burns, who he married on 20 DEC 1861 in Dunblane. Their nine known children were Mary Ann (1862-1880), John (1863-1865), James (1865-?), William (1869-1932), Peter (1872-1962), Duncan (1873-1949), Isabella (1876-?), Eliza (1879-1918) and Joan (1885-1895).
