Malcolm was the son of Malcolm Ross and Harriet McLeod. The date and place of his birth have not been found.
His wife was Margaret McKenzie, who he married on 5 DEC 1862 in Kessock Ferry, Knockbain. Their only known child was Harriet (1865-1930).
