James was born on 23 MAR 1807 in Burnmouth, Maybole, the son of Thomas McCreath and Agnes(Ann) Gibson.
He died on 6 DEC 1879 in Glasgow.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Mary Dickson, who he married on 11 SEP 1835 in Glasgow, Gorbals. Their two known children were Thomas (1840-1905) and John Crawford (1844-1864).
His second wife was Jane Allan, who he married on 10 MAR 1851 in Glasgow. Their six known children were Mary S (1853-1916), Ann(Annie) Gibson (1855-1914), James (1858-?), William (1860-?), Helen Allan (1862-1864) and Charles (1865-1938).
