His second wife was Margaret Gemmell. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their seven known children were John (1775-?), Ann Menzies (1776-?), Janet (1779-?), Christian (c1781-?), Isobel (1783-1867), James (1785-?) and Margaret (1789-?).
