His wife was Elizabeth(Eliza) Dunlop, who he married on 19 JUL 1882 in Kileekie, Kirkmichael. Their seven known children were James Ferguson (1883-1958), William Dunlop (1885-1957), Rober (c1887-?), John Ferguson (?-?), Harry Muir (1891-?), Jessi (c1893-?) and Agnes Dunlop (Ada?) (1896-?).
